Comparison of microwave and autoclave treatment for biomedical waste disinfection

چکیده

As the world is facing a Covid-19 pandemic, this virus teaches lesson about importance of on-site disinfection. On-site disinfection/sterilization with real-time monitoring biomedical waste generated from medical facilities mandatory to prevent hospital-acquired infection (HAI). In study, life cycle assessment two technologies, i.e., microwave (radiation-based) and autoclave (steam-based) were performed summarize inside-out evaluation both technologies in terms efficiency, efficacy, cost-effectiveness. The results disinfection efficacy indicated log 10 reduction (almost 100%) vegetative load microorganisms compared control, showing similar level strategies. Additionally, on several parameters, it was discovered that uses more time resources than microwave. total cost an government approximately double microwave, while operational findings study indicate MACS may be used as dry technique disinfection, its portability, tunability, compactness make suitable alternative for sterilization.
